Today, the Fairmont Rotary Club has around 45 active members, and is one of the largest clubs in its district. Membership is a unique cross section of our community. The club has representatives in virtually every facet of business, government, and community life. The members, male and female, range in age from under 30 to over 80, so the club is both rich with wisdom and alive with youthful enthusiasm.
The group contributes to many local, national, and international charitable organizations, and is actively involved in local education. Each year the Club awards a renewable, 4 year $1,000 per year scholarship to a deserving Marion County high school senior. The Fairmont Rotary Club also sponsors the local high school interact clubs, the Rotaract Club of Fairmont State University, and has hosted and sponsored exchange students from and to countries all over the world.
The Club gathers weekly on Thursdays for luncheon meetings, virtual meetings, community service projects, and social activities. The meetings feature interesting speakers from state and local organizations with a wide variety of timely topics. Our flexible and diverse weekly activities are designed to fit the busy working lifestyles of our current club membership and of those wishing to get involved.
Each member is expected to attend fifty percent of the meetings and assume leadership roles in the club.
We hope that you will consider joining us in the fellowship, stewardship, and most of all to help us achieve our mission of “Service Above Self”
